How we began...

It was a dull morning in December 1986, when I was collecting at the Rotary Christmas Tree, that I looked up the street and there was no other real sign that it was Christmas. I thought the town needed a body to do something about this and the result was to call a meeting of businesses in the town. Out of this meeting grew the Soham Association of Commerce and Trade, otherwise known as SACT. I am very proud when I think what has been achieved since then, not only do we have a very lively late night shopping evening, each year, but the chamber is also actively involved in other events, raising money for charity and hightening awareness of local business throughout the town and surrounding area.

Over the years the association has liased with East Cambridgeshire District Council on many decisions affecting Soham, it's businesses and people, as well as charity events, ie:

Security camera's - CCTV
Road traffic improvement and calming
Town Centre - businesses and shops
Soham Carnival
Viva Centre
Christmas Street Fair and Lights
